A septic system is an underground wastewater treatment system commonly used in rural and suburban areas.

It consists of a septic tank and a drainfield (also known as leach field or absorption field).

The septic tank is designed to separate solid waste from wastewater, allowing bacteria to break down the solids.

The treated wastewater then flows into the drainfield, where it is further treated by the soil before entering the groundwater.

Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure your septic system functions properly and lasts for many years.

Have your septic tank pumped every 3-5 years or as recommended by a professional. This prevents solids from building up and clogging the system.

Avoid flushing non-biodegradable items such as wipes, feminine products, or paper towels, as they can cause blockages and damage your system.

Be mindful of what goes down the drains and toilets. Avoid pouring grease, oils, chemicals, or excessive amounts of cleaning products into the system, as they can disrupt the natural treatment process.

Had the absolute best experience with this company. After struggling with another company to come out and drain my septic tank. I was recommended to this company. Victor, Lewis, and Craig went above and beyond to fix my problem. Little did I know I had a big tree sitting on top of my tank. They did not give up on my situation and made it happen. The entire process they were very comical towards each other, and i could tell they enjoyed working together. Craig, Victor, and Lewis were also very informative and on top of communicating with me. Hands down best service, and the price wasn’t too steep for all the hard work they did today.

I called Herring this morning about an issue with my septic alarm. He told me over the phone what the problem sounded like. I texted my name and address to get on the list for them to pump and inspect my system to see why the alarm was going off. He told me that they would be here today and would call an hour before they came. Victor called and he and Darrell were at my house much earlier than I expected to be contacted. That was awesome because I needed to do laundry and dishes but was scared of that stupid alarm going off again!! Those two were professional and friendly from the minute they got out of the truck. Victor told me what he thought the problem with the alarm might be and when he got the lid off of the tank, he had been 100% correct. My husband and I both stayed outside and chatted with them. They communicated everything that they were doing and what they were seeing and what the problem was. Luckily, it was an extremely easy fix. We discussed two other projects that we were considering doing and will DEFINITELY be calling Herring septic when we are ready to begin those projects. I hope that it is Victor and Darrell that come back when we do. We could not have asked for a more friendly, respectful and professional couple of guys!! I cannot recommend them enough and will tell everyone I know that needs septic work done to call them FIRST!! I will not be calling anyone else.

This alluring promise is what companies selling septic additives want you to believe. They claim that their secret blend of microbes and enzymes can completely digest sewage, making the need for pumping a thing of the past. But is this too good to be true? Let’s explore the no-pump myth and separate fact from fiction.

Do you find the idea of using an additive in your septic tank tempting? It’s worth considering the risks involved and understanding that these formulas are usually based on hope rather than science. Ignoring the importance of proper pump-outs can lead to the accumulation of indestructible sludge in your tank, which can eventually cause substantial problems. (See image below)

Have you ever wondered what happens to all the amazingly nasty stuff that accumulates at the bottom of a septic tank? Well, get this – additive manufacturer’s would have you believe there’s an additive that can actually break down everything from hair to nail clippings to straight up fat.

We’d tell you they are wrong, and those additives can actually do more harm than good. Regular pump outs are the only way to be sure to rid your tank of the indigestible solids that could eventually clog your system.

Don’t get bogged down with septic tank issues – keep it flowing smoothly with regular pumping! Did you know that having your tank emptied every couple of years is not only the most efficient, but also the most wallet-friendly way to maintain your septic system? Don’t let a backed-up system mess with your lifestyle – give your septic tank the care it needs! This image is a great example of a septic system that has not been properly maintained and as you can see we had to use an excavator to scoop our the sludge.

is replacement? With proper maintenance, many systems can be fully restored and avoid the costly and disruptive process installing a new septic tank and system. So before pulling out the bulldozer and calling in the construction crew, consider giving your septic system a little TLC – it could save you a bundle and keep your property looking beautiful too. We can help. Clogs in septic systems can be caused by a variety of factors. Three of the most common culprits include sewage solids that can’t be broken down, slimy biomat growths, and pesky tree roots. The good news is that these issues can often be resolved without having to replace the system. So, if you’re experiencing septic system trouble, don’t fret! There are solutions out there to keep your system running smoothly.

We often can use a process called jetting. This is like pressure washing for your septic system. Jetting is one of the processes that can help keep your system running smoothly.

Unfortunately, the job we did in this image the clog was so bad, the pipes had to be replaced.

Owner, Craig Wisenbaker, purchased Herring Septic Service eight years ago. At the time, it was a small business with only one pump truck and few services offered. The business has since expanded.

“Over the past eight years, we have added an additional pump truck and services including repairs and replacement of drain field and jetting, new septic and drain field installations, pump station repairs and septic inspections,” shared Wisenbaker.

Herring Septic Service is a company that is dedicated to making sure that all your septic tank needs are handled correctly and in a timely manner. They are also adamant that their work has a positive effect on the environment.

“At Herring Septic Service, our aim is to provide the type of septic services that keep our clients’ waste removal systems running smoothly and our environment protect,” says Wisenbaker.

Five years into ownership, Wisenbaker brought his son on board. With his help, the business has grown exponentially. The father-son team brings a family-oriented feel in all they do, which is a priority at Herring Septic Service.
